Privacy Policy

Last Updated: December 16, 2025

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing NOVA. Your privacy is a core design principle of the app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use NOVA.

By accessing or using NOVA, you agree to the practices described below.

2. Information We Collect

NOVA is designed to minimize data collection.

We collect only:

  • Account information: Your first name and email address, used solely for authentication and account management.

We do not build personal profiles, sell user data, or use data for advertising.

3. Health & Wellness Data Handling

Health-related inputs you choose to enter into NOVA (such as journal entries, sleep logs, blood markers, ingredient scans, or wellness scores):

  • Are stored locally on your device

  • Are not stored on NOVA’s servers

  • Can be deleted by you at any time from within the app

NOVA does not maintain a centralized database of user health records.

4. Local Data Storage & Device Security

Data stored locally in NOVA relies on your device’s operating system security features.

Please note:

  • NOVA does not maintain independent cloud backups of your health data

  • If your device is compromised (e.g. jailbroken, rooted, or physically accessed), locally stored data may be accessible

  • You are responsible for securing your device using system-level protections (such as passcodes or biometric locks)

5. AI Processing & Third-Party Services

Some features in NOVA use third-party AI services (such as OpenAI) to generate responses based on user-provided inputs.

Examples include:

  • Ingredient analysis

  • Blood marker summaries

  • Journal reflections

  • Supplement education features

How this works:

  • Only the information required to generate a response is sent

  • Requests do not include your name, email address, or account identifiers

  • Data is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)

  • Inputs may be temporarily processed by the third-party service solely to generate a response

  • For AI services accessed via API (such as OpenAI), user inputs are not used to train or improve their models and are not retained long-term, in accordance with the provider’s published API data usage policies

  • NOVA does not control how third-party services process data internally. These services operate under their own privacy policies (for example, OpenAI’s Privacy Policy)

6. How We Use Information

Information is used strictly to:

  • Authenticate and manage your account

  • Provide app functionality and AI-assisted features

  • Communicate essential account or service updates

We do not sell personal data, share user content for marketing, or use health information for advertising or profiling.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect information, including:

  • Secure network communication (HTTPS/TLS)

  • Minimization of data collection

  • Local-only storage for sensitive wellness information

However, no system can guarantee absolute security. Use of the app is at your discretion.

8. Health & Medical Disclaimer

NOVA is a wellness and educational tool. It:

  • Does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment

  • Is not a medical device or healthcare service

  • Should not replace consultation with qualified healthcare professionals

Always seek professional medical advice regarding health decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

By using NOVA, you acknowledge that:

  • You are responsible for how you interpret and use information provided by the app

  • All insights are informational and non-prescriptive

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of NOVA after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
